NUS  GEK1521 - PHYSICS IN THE LIFE SCIENCES
This module aims to establish the interconnectedness of knowledge between human life and activity and basic physics. It addresses: How is energy converted in our ecological system? How are materials transported in our bodies? How do our eyes function? How do nerve cells transmit signals? Why and how do we need to determine the structure of proteins? How are biomembranes formed? How are bones and teeth formed? Why does dental caries occur? Why can some plants, insects/fishes survive in a very severe winter? This module is targeted at non-physics students who are interested in physics behind life sciences.
